Walmart announced the start of sales for the MacBook Air with the M1 chip in the U.S., priced at $699, which is cheaper than other retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. This model was released by Apple in November 2020 as one of the first Macs with their own chip. The MacBook Air includes the M1 chip, 256GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM/unified memory, and comes in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray. It is brand new, not refurbished. Apple discontinued this model earlier this month with the launch of new MacBook Air models equipped with the M3 chip. The price for the discontinued MacBook Air model was $999. Apple is still selling refurbished M1 MacBook Air models starting at $759. Despite being around three and a half years old, the M1 MacBook Air remains a capable machine for daily tasks, but does have an older design and limited years of macOS support compared to the latest models.
