Maryland residents attempted to deceive Apple by exchanging counterfeit iPhones for genuine ones, amounting to millions of dollars. They utilized fake serial or IMEI numbers on iPhones from Hong Kong and submitted over 5,000 of them to Apple stores and service providers between May 2017 and September 2019.
