Xiaomi has released multiple smartphones with fast charging technology, including the 120W HyperCharge, which can fully charge a 4500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. The company is currently working on the 200 watts fast charging technology, which is expected to fully charge a 4000mAh battery in just 8 minutes. Many users are concerned about the impact of fast charging on smartphone battery life. However, Xiaomi claims that its HyperCharge technology includes many safety protection features, such as real-time temperature monitoring, longer lifespan batteries, dual-cell technology with Graphene, and MTW technology, among others. The company claims that fast charging does not have a significant negative impact on battery life. According to Xiaomi, fast charging will reduce the battery’s total capacity by 20% after 800 charging cycles, regardless of the charging speed. Although fast charging has several advantages, including extending the time between charges, some studies raise concerns about health and environmental issues. Fast charging may cause the battery to lose its capacity quicker, increase the risk of overheating, and lead to greater air pollution. Xiaomi recommends charging the battery to less than 80-90% whenever it gets close to 20%.
